It is important to use the particular feet that are designed for the particular weight range of the component. At this point, years later after the above was written, we have used the platform underneath dozens of different components and we have always experienced some kind of improvement, in the vast majority of cases a significant improvement, and not once were there any negative side effects. Transports and CD players, and equipment with tubes or with resonant chassis that vibrate when you knock your knuckles against them will experience a radical improvement. Using Nimbus's as feet under the component and on top of the base will also always add an incremental improvement to the sound, and in many cases a significant improvement (it depends on how the stock feet are coupled to the chassis - and we had one component that we found was only resting on 3 of its 4 feet). Sold state equipment with very thick non-resonant chassis will experience the least amount of improvement - so get platforms for these pieces last.
